Where I went, What I saw

I live in an amazing place. to most it would be a good sized city, but in my view it is still a small town with a bunch of people here. It seems to me that something is always happening here. Deb and i went to breakfast today at the usual place, saw a few friends there, and drove down to the pier/beach area to see the festivities.

What festivities you may ask? This years version of RAAM (raceacrossamerica.org) begins today. right here in Oceanside, CA.  Solo women, and men over 60 start 3 minutes from now at noon on saturday the 7th of June . the solo men start tomorrow the 8 th at noon, and the teams start later in the week. Their website lists about 210 competitors or teams this year. This race is the real deal. In this town it is just another thing that goes on. Competitors from all over, this continent, and others running around. Motorhomes with signs and lights all around, and yet most people on the pier and beach had no idea, no clue as to what was happening right in front of their eyes. There were more people at the Phillipino day celebration at the city hall complex. They had bands, singers, vendors, and Phillipino food. I know i can’t spell that word correctly.

This year i’m sending good karma to Richard Rupp. solo division, 66 years young. he was energetic and pleasant to speak with. i’m rootin for him this race. maybe some day i could ……. help with the crew …… Yeah maybe do the raam thing riding in a motorhome.
